On Friday 8th September, LYJO held their annual
'Leavers' Gig for those members of the band going off to University or
elsewhere. This year it was held at the Hat Factory and the place was jam
packed. We even ran out of seats for the audience to sit on. The leaver's
requested some of their all time favorites to play. Mel sung 'You're
Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You' which everyone loved, whilst Jon
entertained the audience with his rather energetic drum solo in 'Sesame
Street'. There was also a Maynard Ferguson Tribute, to remember the famous
trumpeter who passed away during the summer, of McArthur Park in which
Peter stood at the bar and played the well-known solos from the back of the
room. The evening had many more energetic pieces which kept the
audience busy as well as a few vocals and laid back tunes. There was a
brilliant vibe and everyone enjoyed the night!
